Dose

Privacy policy

Effective October 30, 2026

Your medication records stay on your device. Dose does not send them to the developer.

Information stored in the app

Dose stores the medications, schedules, dose amounts and times, dose changes, active and inactive periods, and dose records you enter. Records may include dates, times, and time-zone information. The app uses local storage on your iPhone and iOS file protection.

No account, tracking, or advertising

Dose does not require a Dose account and does not include advertising, analytics, or tracking. The app does not collect your records on a developer-operated server or sell your information.

Optional voice and screenshot import

Voice and screenshot import use OpenAI. When you record, Dose streams microphone audio to OpenAI and sends the transcript for medication extraction. When you choose screenshots, Dose sends those images to OpenAI to check and extract them. Your existing medication list and intake history are not included. You review the results before adding them to Dose.

Requests are authorized through App AI Gateway, a third-party service that confirms they come from a genuine copy of Dose. Transcripts and screenshots pass through it on their way to OpenAI, while live voice connects to OpenAI directly using a short-lived credential from the gateway.

Images are resized and re-encoded without their original metadata before upload. Voice import does not save an audio recording file. Dose asks OpenAI not to store generated responses, though OpenAI’s own API data-handling practices still apply. You can add medications by hand without using these features.

Apple Health import

If you choose Apple Health import, Dose asks for access to the medications you select in Health and reads your recent dose events to suggest schedules. This information stays on your device and is not used for advertising. You can change access at any time in the Health app.

Permissions

Dose asks for microphone or Health access only if you choose that import method. Screenshots are chosen through the system photo picker, so Dose does not get access to your photo library. Notifications are optional, are scheduled on your device, and can show medication names on your Lock Screen.

Subscriptions

Apple processes subscriptions and payments. Dose receives your subscription status from Apple but does not receive your payment details.

Exports and device backups

If you choose Export data, Dose creates a file and opens the iOS share sheet. You decide where to save or send it. The service or person you choose receives that file under their own practices.

iOS or computer backups may include Dose data, depending on your device and backup settings. Those backups are handled by Apple or the backup service you use. Dose does not provide its own remote backup or synchronization service.

Retention and deletion

Dose keeps your records locally so you can view your history. Making a medication inactive keeps its past records. Deleted medications stay in Trash until you restore them or delete them permanently. Deleting the app removes its app-local data; offloading the app may retain its data. Exported files and device backups are separate copies that you manage.

Support messages

If you contact the developer, your email address and the contents of your message are used to respond and troubleshoot your request. Please avoid sending health information you do not want to share. Support correspondence is handled through the email service and is separate from the app’s local records.
